The new ID requirements

What is voter fraud?

By Ditte-Marie, Emma, Maria, Adrian and Nanna S.

In modern days, the right to vote has been debated multiply times. The most recent number the politicians pulled is the new laws about ID requirements. It is no longer possible to vote if you show up with a:
  • Social security card
  • Student license
  • Veteran photo ID card
In addition, if you live in special states, you will need to have your ID card ready. As you can see on the picture, it is very important with a legal ID in Texas for example. Some of the new laws involving ID requirements dictate that your ID must have:
  • A picture
  • Your address
  • Your birthdate
  • Your full name

Essentially, the only identification you can use is your driver license or your gun license. Since more than 21 million Americans do not have a driver license, they will find it difficult to vote. Meanwhile, people, who carry guns, are allowed to vote without trouble. The politicians, who issued the news laws, had an ulterior motive behind their actions. Even though they claim that the new laws has been issued to prevent voter fraud, the only fraud is the new laws, which prevent certain people from voting. The politicians, who made the new laws, are trying to turn aside the voters, who vote on Obama in order for the republicans to get more votes than Obama.

  3. Der er kun en lov, så derfor skal i ændre "laws" til "law"
"since more than 21 million Americans do not have a driver license, they will find it difficult to vote." Sætningen skal omformuleres, da den ikke er helt tydelig.
"are trying to turn aside the voters" turn aside skal ændres til reject
"who vote on Obama" skal ændres til "who vote democratic"

  4. Hello DM, Emma, Maria, Adrian and Nanna S. Thank you for a very interesting and well-written article. We (Nanna and Nanna aka. double-trouble) find your layout quite professional and well-arranged. We especially like the little dots and the illustrative picture.

If we must mention some constructive criticism:
    - your punctuation (the placing of commas) is a bit misled, because you use too many. For instance "Meanwhile, people, who carry guns, are allowed to ...". In the english language you do not use as many commas as you do in the danish language.
    - You should also take a look at the concord (kongruens) in your text. For instance "even though they claim that the new laws HAS been".
    - All in all your word usage is suitable, but there are a few mistakes. For instance "the most recent NUMBER the politicians pulled ...". In this case the word "number" is very misleading, because it indicates a numeral. Instead you could use the words "scheme" or "trick". This would highlight the essence of your sentence.

    Best regards
    Double-trouble.
