1. Describe the environment in the short
story with special focus on the relationship between the community and the
police in Harlem. Use specific examples.
The relationship between the community and
the police is very tense, they don’t see the police as a security facility, but
they see them like enemies. Everybody knows each other, and it feels like if
someone gets in trouble, the neighbourhood has your back. It seems a little
criminal which maybe could be linked to lack of education.

2. Comment on the language in the short
story. How is it told and by whom? What characterizes the tone of voice and
word usage of the narrator? Use specific examples.
It is told in a very local and personal
tone. It is a 1st person narrator, and with inner thoughts. The
descriptions are very subjective.

It is told like it is friend to friend, I
think. It is filled with personal relations and experiences.
